Relaxed riding along a cycle-way converted from an old railway line — our Via Verdes Day Tour from Ronda
Via Verdes Cycling Day Tour
"Via Verdes" are popular routes for people to ride their bikes in the countryside without dealing with traffic. These routes are mostly old railway lines converted for leisure use and are free for public access. The Via Verde de la Sierra is located a short drive away from Ronda and provides an excellent opportunity for a day-out bike riding in the Spanish countryside. Along the route, there are 30 tunnels to pass through and "Zaframagon," which is a nesting site for Griffon Vultures.

DESCRIPTION
This is a popular and easy bike ride that anyone can enjoy, along a disused railway track. The route takes riders through gently descending unsurfaced tracks, which meander through the rural countryside. Along the way, cyclists can pass through 30 tunnels, over 4 viaducts, and past a colony of griffon vultures. The tunnels are particularly enjoyed by kids, and two former railway stations on the route make for pleasant cafe stops. Meeting Point: RONDA TRAIN STATION NOTES & TIMETABLE.....Note: This route is self-guided and easy to follow; we drive you to the start point at the old station building in Olvera (approx 45 minutes from Ronda) and the minibus meets you at the end in Puerto Serrano to bring you back to Ronda. There are two cafes on the route, one in the middle and one at the end, but opening times are unreliable, so please bring snacks to keep you going, particularly if you are riding with children. We allow 4 hours for the ride, which allows for a relaxed riding pace with time to stop for photos and for refreshments in the middle and/or at the end.
