Grazalema Grand Tour
Mountain Bike Ride - Moderate to Challenging
DESCRIPTION
This route is an extension of our Grazalema Natural Park circular ride, providing more single-track as it continues through the Natural park to the mountainside village of Montejaque and then into the Guadiaro valley below Ronda. The Natural Park is a great area for cross-country biking, with dramatic, unspoiled landscapes and hidden valleys surrounded by towering mountain peaks. Read more.....The first half of the ride explores the heart of the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park, a protected region of rocky mountain crags, karst valleys and cork oak forest. After some fun single-track a climb up into the first section of cork oak forest offers a good chance of spotting some vultures and Iberian pigs, then it's back down into the valley and we return towards the start point. After the single-track section, we turn off to continue through the mountains, with some technical sections. This finally descends into the Hundidero valley and on to the white village of Montejaque, where we take a quick refreshment stop. From Montejaque there are options for the final part of the ride, varying from a quick descent to follow the river, a climb over the next mountain ridge before descending, or an undulating route that gives some extra single-track followed by a great descent to the finish. All the options take us to a finish point in the Guadiaro valley, just below Ronda, this saves us from riding back up into Ronda. |
