Genal Valley Views
Cycling - Moderate
A short distance road ride, which takes us up and along a mountain ridge overlooking the Genal valley and then finishes with a fast, twisting descent to the bottom of the Guadiaro river valley. A great ride for less regular cyclists to get a taster of the area.
The route begins with a steady climb from Ronda up to a mountain ridge and then undulates along the ridge-top road which weaves through the mountains. There are no villages along this section of the route, just miles of unspoilt rocky mountain views. We ride past the village of Atajate, the smallest white village in Malaga province, with only around 140 inhabitants. Then we take a turn off the main ridge and enjoy a twisting descent down the side of the hill, riding through a limestone gorge, along 5km of narrow mountain road. We skirt the main village of Jimera and finish at the small satellite village and railway station at the bottom of the hill. There is time for optional refreshments at a local bar before we return to Ronda in our minibus.
