Mountain Biking Adventures in the Serranía de Ronda

Explore the wilder side of Andalucia on thrilling cross-country rides through the stunning Serranía de Ronda and two nearby Natural Parks. Ride a mix of singletrack, mountain paths, and remote trails - natural, untamed routes that offer a true taste of adventure and incredible variety from start to finish.

Friday - El Burgo and El Chorro

Start from the vantage point of Puerto del Viento, a scenic mountain pass that opens onto an ever-changing landscape. Descend through the rugged beauty, with breathtaking views of the Sierra de las Nieves, into the quiet village of El Burgo. From there, follow the rolling hills of the Turón Valley until you reach the Málaga Lakes—three shimmering reservoirs that regulate the waters flowing through the dramatic El Chorro gorge. As the terrain transforms once more, ride beneath towering cliffs through the El Chorro mountains, finishing near the exit of the gorge and the iconic Caminito del Rey suspended walkway—a thrilling end to a day of contrasts and discovery.

Trace the footsteps of 19th-century bandits on this great ride through the hills of Andalucía, following old trails that once linked secret hideouts. The route winds through dramatic terrain and takes you to the unique cave-house village of Setenil de las Bodegas. Tuesday - Rio Guadiaro

44km +773m   

Begin in a remote whitewashed village perched high above the Río Guadiaro valley, then descend into the valley floor, passing through the charming village of Jimera de Líbar. From here, follow Henderson’s Way; a fun/challenging 7km stretch of natural single-track that winds through the narrow valley and leads to the striking Cueva del Gato, a perfect spot for a refreshing swim if you’re brave enough for the cold. This is the ultimate cross-country mountain biking adventure, tracing a remote trail through the heart of the Sierra de las Nieves National Park. Following the historic Puerta Verde de Marbella - once a drover’s route through the mountains - the ride unfolds across spectacular terrain. Begin in pine forests and rugged peaks, then descend toward the Mediterranean, with sweeping views of Gibraltar and the distant coastline of North Africa. This spectacular cross-country ride winds through pine forests high above the Turón Valley, offering breathtaking views at every turn. The route leads to the Málaga Lakes—three glistening reservoirs that feed the waters of the dramatic El Chorro gorge. After a long, flowing descent into Ardales, we join a quiet road which follows the lake edge and into a landscape that changes dramatically as you ride beneath towering cliffs through the rugged El Chorro mountains. The journey ends near the mouth of the gorge and the iconic Caminito del Rey suspended walkway—a thrilling finale to a day rich in contrasts and natural wonder.
