Mountain Biking

New Year MTB Holiday 28 Dec 2018 – 3 Jan 2019

Join us on a fabulous New Year MTB holiday in southern Spain.

Take advantage of the best winter weather in Europe to ride unspoilt mountain and valley trails in warm sunshine. On this holiday we explore superb natural mtb routes in the Serrania de Ronda and protected Natural Parks of western Andalucia with our British Cycling qualified MTB guides. The area is largely uncharted for mountain biking and the landscape is diverse, with great cross country (XC) trails just waiting to be discovered.

This holiday includes full board accommodation and a delicious New Years' Eve dinner.

New Year Mountain Biking

During the week you will ride a mix of isolated mountain trails, farm tracks and natural singletrack. You will enjoy fabulous mountain scenery and remote mtb trail riding, to say nothing of traditional Spanish white villages and hilltop towns with delicious local tapas, wine and beer!

The mountain biking will be mainly XC riding at an intermediate level. This trip will be limited to a small group to ensure a flexible, personal and very enjoyable holiday.

Take a look at our MTB video (see right) to see many of the trails included on this New Year MTB Holiday.

Difficulty level - Intermediate

Intermediate level mountain biking will require a reasonable amount of fitness on the bikes, as well as competency in bike handling skills on sometimes technical trails. It's not highly technical with jumps or drop-offs but the natural terrain means that you should be happy tackling all sorts of different surfaces. Each day will include some good climbs and descents.

This week is ideal for mountain bikers who enjoy XC riding on natural trails in areas of outstanding natural beauty, particularly for those wanting to improve their skills over the duration of a week.

Accommodation - What's Included

Whilst the biking is the most important aspect of your trip, you will also want to relax in comfort after your rides. So we base this holiday in a small countryside hotel, close to the historic town of Ronda. The Molino del Puente is a beautifully restored olive mill, full of character and charm. You will dine each night in the hotel's excellent restaurant, La Cascada and join us and local residents for a New Year's Eve dinner. Standard accommodation is for 2 people in a double/twin room. Solo travellers get a room of their own.

You will also have free time to visit the nearby town of Ronda, perched upon a cliff-top above a dramatic 120m gorge. The spectacular bridge "Puente Nuevo" spans the gorge and links the old and new parts of the town. The town retains architecture from its Roman, Moorish, Jewish and Christian past. You can visit the oldest bullring in Spain or simply sit back and enjoy the tapas bars, watching the world go by.
