"Mountains to the Med" | From Ronda to Puerto Banus
Cycling the Puerta Verde de Marbella - This great mountain bike ride takes us off road through the heart of the Sierra de las Nieves Natural Park, along a centuries-old route which descends down to the beaches and marina of Puerto Banus. The full route is 40km, with an opening section through the lower levels of the Park, then ascending to the highest point of the ride at 1,280m. From here we begin a 33km descent, with only a couple of uphill sections. Along the way, enjoy spectacular views of Marbella, the Costa del Sol, Mediterranean Sea and over to the coastline of Africa and Gibraltar. The route takes you through pine and cork oak forests and you pass high above a large reservoir south of Istan (El Embalse de la Concepcion). The track twists its way around the mountains on wide tracks, making this a ride suitable for anyone up for a bit of an adventure. For more experienced riders, your guide can can add in some steeper descents and more challenging mountain biking by heading over additional sections of firetrack.
