Guided Walking Holidays in Spain

Centre based Walking & Hiking Holidays in Andalucia

Walking and hiking holidays in Ronda, Andalucia, southern Spain. English guides based locally show you the area's remote mountain trails, taking you along quiet pathways between mountain-top white villages, past olive groves and vineyards or up Torrecilla, the highest mountain peak in western Andalucia.

Ronda is the perfect location for a centre-based walking holiday – this historical town is located in a stunningly beautiful and unspoilt mountainous region between two protected Natural Parks, so you are surrounded by a huge variety of terrain and landscape. The area also enjoys the best weather in Europe, with over 300 days of sunshine a year.

Our walking and hiking guides have expert knowledge of the local area. Theywill lead you through each day’s walk, pointing out interesting sights along the way and sharing with you many of the cultural aspects of rural Spain. For your safety and peace of mind, our guides are fully qualified Outdoor First Aiders and carry a first aid kit at all times.

In order to maximise each day’s walking, we do not restrict ourselves to circular routes – some of the best hikes head well out of Ronda into the surrounding countryside, so our minibus is available to bring us back to Ronda. The minibus is also available if at any time you find you have bitten off a bit more than you can chew and need a helping hand to get you home at the end of your day’s walking.

Daily Mountain Hikes and Countryside Walks

New Year mountain biking holiday

Enjoy expert guided hiking on natural tracks and trails through the Serrania de Ronda and Natural Parks of western Andalucia. The mountains provide many stunning vistas for you to enjoy on your walking holiday. White villages are dotted throughout the local area, giving a taste of what life has been like here in this quiet corner of Andalucia for many hundreds of years. The pathways which cross the countryside were often the only routes in and out of the villages and remote farms, so you will often be walking on ancient drovers’ trails and donkey tracks that twist and climb through the craggy mountain landscape and through unspoilt woodland. Try out the great local cuisine in village cafes and bars (lunches on walking days included in your holiday price) – walking along dusty pathways under clear blue skies makes the cold drink and tapas at the end of each day especially refreshing!

Difficulty level

Our most popular centre-based walking holidays are at an Intermediate to challenging level, which gives the best variety of walks and hikes and maximises the terrain you will experience. This level of walking will require a good level of general fitness and you should be prepared for walking for 4-6 hours daily, often on rough or uneven terrain. Whilst all the routes involve some ascent and descent, there is no actual climbing involved and you will not need any specific climbing gear, just a good pair of walking shoes or boots. Poles are not essential but you may wish to bring them if you are used to walking with them.
